- Plan ahead
It may feel like you can put off thinking about Christmas until after summer, however, now is the perfect time to begin planning your Christmas party.
Christmas is one of the busiest seasons and your guests will be getting offers to attend other parties… but you want them at yours! Start first by putting a few dates together, but ultimately you need to think about what your guests are going to be eating.
What type of food do you want to serve… a sit down meal? Canapes and nibbles? Or a buffet? The general feel of your event will decide on the catering choices you go for, but it is crucial you decide this now to avoid any organisational headaches come December.
- To their taste?
One of the crucial components to planning a Christmas party is understanding your guests’ likes and dislikes… maybe you know the answers when close family are concerned, but what about second cousin Angela, or Bob from accounts? Do they have an allergy or an intolerance? Are they vegetarian, vegan or maybe pescatarian?
It’s vital you know these answers to make sure you don’t serve food that your guests can’t eat… it would be such a shame for all that hard work and effort to go to waste, not to mention the wasted uneaten food!
Whether you’re serving a traditional Christmas dinner, with roast turkey and all the trimmings, or even a decedent Indian buffet selection, you need to makes sure there are options to suit all your guests!
Concentrating on getting the quality of the food right is one of the most important elements, but, when planning your party, thinking about when your guests need to be served is key to avoiding rumbling tummies.
If you are serving a sit down dinner, you need to think about offering canapes and nibbles too.
Getting the balance right between avoiding rumbling tummies and keeping your guests happy, and not wanting to spoil appetites for the main event is key to the success of your night and it’s a component that you should start planning now.
- In Season?
Just because it’s Christmas, doesn’t mean you have to serve turkey and Brussel sprouts… There are so many exciting options that are not only in season, but bang on trend to serve to your guests this Christmas.
As soon as the Christmas 2016 season ended, I was on the hunt for the latest inspiration for creating mouth-watering menus for Emirates Old Trafford’s ‘A Magical Christmas Time’ 2017 party nights.
This year, why not start by serving your guests a twist on tradition… a Duck Liver parfait, but add that Christmas sparkle with candied orange. And for the main event, forget the roast turkey, why not serve a decadent pan seared rump of lamb, tantalise their taste-buds with thyme infused fondant potato, combined with honey glazed winter roots and finished with a delicious redcurrant gravy. And for your vegetarian guests… why not give them a Christmas treat to remember? Forget a nut roast, why not tempt them with a Ravioli of griddled vegetables in a rich Italian tomato sauce with fresh basil and parmesan?
For dessert, white chocolate and raspberry brûlée cheesecake, cranachen cream and winter berries is sure to get your guests longing for more!
- Christmas Spirit
Christmas is a time of joy and merrymaking. So don’t get your tinsel in a twist when planning your party. If you follow hints and tips above, you can be sure to create a Christmas party that is a real hit this season! However, make sure you don’t forget to have fun when your planning your party… your guests will love any personal touches you include, such as personalised Christmas crackers, delicious treats; like chocolates, and sweets.
You want to make sure your party is one to remember for all the right reasons, and taking the time to introduce the personal touches, whether with your food or with added extras, speaking to your guests to understand their needs, and serving food that is on trend will help your party be the star at the top of the Christmas party tree!
