Wedding Day Planning Top Tips

Wedding Day Planning Top Tips

Are you recently engaged and starting to plan your big day?

Planning a wedding might seem daunting, but it doesn’t have to be. Preparation is key and we have our top tips to get you started from our trained and experienced Events Team here at Emirates Old Trafford.

Book your venue early

Lots of wedding venues can be booked up to two years in advance, especially if you’re looking for a venue with quirky features or that can cater for larger numbers. So if you have a specific venue in mind or there’s a particular date on which you want to hold your wedding, make contacting your preferred venues the first job on your to do list.

Set a Budget

The budget is a very important aspect of organising your wedding day. Establishing your budget early will help shape your day in terms of theming, catering, transport, flowers, décor and more. Price up your essentials and discuss as a couple, those elements that are the most important to you and those that are less important so that you can allocate your funds without stretching your budget.

Make a To Do List

By making a to do list and creating deadlines for the key decisions this will alleviate the last minute rushes and stresses. This will help you organise the most important aspects and details of your wedding and making sure you don’t miss anything like booking your photographer!

There are some great wedding timelines available online.

Attend Wedding Fairs

Wedding Fairs are incredibly useful for not only gathering ideas and inspiration but also meeting great contacts you’ll need for the big day such as florists, photographers, wedding dress shops etc. At larger wedding fairs, there may also be the opportunity to try on dresses and check out the latest trends and colours for the season.

Create a Wedding Planning Book

A wedding planning book can help you document all your great ideas. Use cut-outs from wedding and bridal magazines and online wedding platforms such as Confetti and Hitched and look out for blogs (like this). Use dividers and tabs to help you check back easily to each section for e.g. Venues, Budget, Ceremony, Reception etc. Also check out Pinterest and create your own online mood boards!

Personalise your Wedding

Your wedding day should be about you and your partner and is a chance for you to indulge yourself and your partner and bring out your own personalities, personal tastes and passions. Make the day a true reflection of you and your partner and what you share and enjoy and the love that you have for each other!

Prioritise the Most Important Details

What are the main things you want to get right about the day? Will a mix up with the size of wine glasses ruin your day? No, but sitting Auntie Maureen near Cousin Ben after the row at Christmas might.

Emirates Old Trafford can cater for small intimate gatherings to larger celebrations with capacity from 50 to 1,200.
