Solace heads to Emirates Old Trafford for its Annual ‘flagship’ Summit

The SOLACE SUMMIT 2017 is taking place at Emirates Old Trafford from Wednesday 1st to Friday 3rd November 2017 and will see over 300 Chief Executives and Senior Managers attending a two-day conference.

Solace (Society of Local Authority Chief Executives) is the representative body for Chief Executives and Senior Managers working in the public sector in the UK and is committed to promoting public sector excellence providing their members with opportunities for professional development. They seek to influence debate around the future of public services to ensure that policy and legislation are informed by the experience and expertise of their members.

Graeme McDonald, Group Director of Solace commented “Solace are delighted to bring their flagship annual summit to the North West in November 2017. Emirates Old Trafford provides the perfect venue for senior staff from UK local government, offering a great location, and a modern and light environment.

Having held a very successful event in the Newcastle/Gateshead this year, we are particularly pleased to bring the event to the North West as this remains the centre of the Government’s Northern Powerhouse plans, seen as many as the flagship of the devolution revolution”

In addition to holding their conference in The Point – Emirates Old Trafford’s award-winning and flexible event space, they are also hosting a drinks reception and various plenary sessions within the historic Pavilion.

Emirates Old Trafford’s Chief Executive Daniel Gidney, said “The Solace membership covers the whole of the UK and we’re delighted to have been chosen for their Annual Summit due to our location, size and flexibility.

Delegates from the Summit will also be able to enjoy our new Hilton Garden Inn during the conference which is set to open summer 2017”.

Solace’s activity in the North West in regards to government policy and devolution revolution is leading the way and Solace are working with local authority CEO’s in the region such as Trafford Borough Council as much as they can.

Trafford Council’s Chief Executive, Theresa Grant, said: “I look forward to welcoming and attending the SOLACE Summit in 2017. It is great news that this prestigious event has chosen a venue that is literally on the doorstep of Trafford Council and one which we have a long and successful partnership with.

The summit is an opportunity to highlight all that is happening in Trafford and Greater Manchester and our part in the Northern Powerhouse.”

Solace’s main objective when choosing a venue for their Summit was to find the right space for their needs specifically a venue that would be able to house a conference, exhibition and drinks reception with additional breakout space which Emirates Old Trafford offers. It was also very important to Solace to have their delegates under one roof and be able to move smoothly, quickly and efficiently from venue to venue to maximise their time.
