Over thirty volunteers from Emirates Old Trafford were at Ramsbottom Cricket Club today helping with the clean-up operation after recent floods.
Lancashire CCC have already raised over £12,000 to help those affected by the flooding across Lancashire in recent weeks. This money includes the £2,000 the Club has donated.
Captain Steven Croft, Toby Lester, Matthew Parkinson, Haseeb Hameed and Rob Jones joined Cricket Director and Head Coach Ashley Giles to help shift mud off the outfield, amongst other tasks.
Giles said, “It’s fantastic for us to come down to Ramsbottom CC this morning to help out where we can. It shows a commitment from us to one of our clubs and the league in general.
He added, “Most of our lads will have started at cricket clubs like these so it’s important we remember our roots, but also the future of Lancashire County Cricket Club should be coming from clubs in Lancashire so we want to help out where we can.
“There’s clearly a big job to be done here but hopefully we’ve helped in a small way with all the staff coming down from Emirates Old Trafford today.”
Captain of Lancashire County Cricket Club, Steven Croft said, “It’s really important that we came down here today because you can see how much the flooding has affected, not only cricket, but people in the county. It’s great to see so many people down here to help a club that has been severely damaged by the floods.
The Club has also donated the following auction prizes to help raise even more money for the appeal:
