Hilton Garden Inn update from the Project Manager

The Hilton Garden Inn's Project Manager at Galliford Try, Rob Deakin, has said that the hotel at Emirates Old Trafford is running on time after recently celebrating the topping out ceremony.

Last month, representatives from contractor Galliford Try, Trafford Borough Council and Emirates Old Trafford were on the roof of the new development to celebrate the milestone.

"It's a huge milestone in any project and it means that the final piece of the pre-cast frame has been built and put into place, which was a lift-top slab in this case. The actual frame of the hotel finished on programme and the whole project remains on time.

"The fit out trays of the hotel now follow behind and then we've got the roof construction to move ahead with.

The Hilton Garden Inn at Emirates Old Trafford is the crowning glory in the Club’s re-development plans and will be open for the Fourth Investec Test Match between England and South Africa, starting on Friday 4th August and Deakin has expressed his pride of the building already.

"We're very proud of the build and very proud of the design of the hotel already. It's going to be a brilliant hotel and a fantastic addition to Lancashire County Cricket Club and Emirates Old Trafford. It's a credit to the designers who have worked on the scheme and we'll be looking to deliver a top quality hotel for the Club.

"We're running on time at the moment which is fantastic. It can be difficult during the winter with the weather, particularly with the roof construction. The winter is never very kind to us in the construction industry so we are hoping it stays mild. We're in a good place though."

The hotel with 150 bedrooms, 85 of which will be pitch facing, a restaurant, fitness centre and adjoining coffee shop, will cement Emirates Old Trafford as a truly world-class sporting, music and business destination.
