OVER 80,000 people packed into Emirates Old Trafford during the past week to watch two of the world’s most iconic pop stars perform at the famous venue.
The home of Lancashire County Cricket Club was transformed into a stunning concert arena to welcome Rihanna (Wednesday 29 June) and Beyoncé (Tuesday 5 July) with both stars wowing the excited crowds with hit after hit.
Lancashire’s chief executive Daniel Gidney said: “To have attracted two of the world’s most iconic pop stars to Emirates Old Trafford is a testament to the versatility and reputation of our venue.
“And after last year’s sold-out Foo Fighters gig, Emirates Old Trafford is most certainly firmly established as a prestigious concert venue. The way the stadium has been uniquely designed to be able to accommodate international sport and global artists puts us in a great position to continue to attract major events and visitors to Trafford and Greater Manchester.“
“A lot of work goes into preparing the venue for events like these and special praise must go to our ground staff and operations team who make everything appear seamless for the thousands of fans on the night.”
The focus now returns to cricket with Emirates Old Trafford hosting the Second Investec Test between England and Pakistan which commences on Friday 22 July. With Days One and Two almost sold out, Day Three and Day Four ticket prices offer exceptional value to see the team that last beat England in Manchester over 15 years ago. Tickets for Sunday 24 July are priced from £28 for adults and £6 for children and for Monday 25 July are priced from £25 for adults and £5 for children.
